HFM demo contest

The HFM (HF Markets) Virtual to Real demo contest lets you compete with a demo account, and the top finishers receive trading-bonus prizes. This guide checks who can enter, how to register, how the prize is treated and what the terms say about withdrawing a profit, using the wording HFM itself publishes. The contest is run by HFM, not by this site.

The two tables below are rebuilt from this site’s data every time the site is updated. The prizes and any rates appear only in the tables, never in the text, because they change. Read the official page for the current details before you enter.

The conditions column gives only the main points. The terms themselves are quoted below, word for word, from HFM’s demo contest terms, each with a link to its source.

3. Who can enter, and with which account

The Demo Contest is available to all of the Company’s Clients who have satisfied the Criteria for this Demo Contest as set out in paragraph 1.2.,1.3 and 1.4 of the Demo Contest Terms and Conditions.

HFM, official page

What it means. Any HFM client can enter, but only if they meet the criteria in paragraphs 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 of the contest terms. This sentence does not list those criteria. Open the terms document and read those paragraphs yourself.

Only Clients with a Demo Contest account are eligible to participate in this contest.

HFM, official page

What it means. You need a Demo Contest account. Trading on an ordinary demo account or on a live account does not put you in the contest. You have to set up the contest account.

Clients having country of residence or country of incorporation China and/or Bangladesh are not eligible to participate in this contest.

HFM, official page

What it means. If your country of residence, or your company’s country of incorporation, is China or Bangladesh, you cannot enter. The sentence says nothing about other countries, so check your own on the official page. The terms also say the contest can be applied to only one account per client.

Caution

HFM changes the pages it shows according to the visitor's country. If what you see on HFM's site differs from this site's tables, follow the conditions and terms on your own screen.

4. How to enter

The Client must register for the competition via the competition dedicated page in order to participate.

HFM, official page

What it means. You enter by registering on the contest’s own page. Having an account is not enough. If you trade without registering, your results may not count.

5. From the prize to a withdrawal

From registering to withdrawing a profit
  1. Register for the contestOn the contest's own page
  2. Trade on the demo contest accountDemo money, no real funds at risk
  3. Finish high in the rankingPrizes go to the top places
  4. Prize is credited to a live accountThe prize itself cannot be withdrawnThis section
  5. Withdraw profitOnly after the trade count and volume are met

The steps with the darker frame are where the prize conditions apply.

The prize funds cannot be withdrawn but any profits can be withdrawn as long as the winner(s) has completed at least 50 round turn trades and a total volume of 10 standard lots.

HFM, official page

What it means. The prize money itself can never be taken out. What may be withdrawn is the profit made with it, and only after the winner has completed at least 50 round-turn trades (opened and closed) and a total volume of at least 10 standard lots. Both conditions have to be met, not just one. To see how much trading that is for your own style, try the position size calculator.

The terms also say that when a profit is withdrawn, the prize amount is deducted from the live account, which is then archived. Treat a withdrawal as the end of that prize account.

In case the trading account of the credited prizes remains inactive for a period of sixty (60) calendar days, the Company reserves the right to withdraw any profits and the prize funds the client was awarded through the Demo Contest.

HFM, official page

What it means. If the account that received the prize sits idle for 60 calendar days, HFM may take back both the profits and the prize funds. Winning and then leaving the account untouched can cost you the prize.

Point

We have not confirmed in our data what the prizes are for each place, or any monthly conditions beyond the terms above. We do not state them here. Read the contest page for the current month.

6. Before you enter

  1. Check on the official page that your country is allowed.
  2. Read paragraphs 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 of the contest terms.
  3. Register on the contest’s own page and set up the Demo Contest account.
  4. Remember that only one account per client can be used in the contest.
  5. A prize account left inactive for 60 days can be taken back.
  6. If you hope to withdraw a profit, work out first whether you can meet the trade-count and volume conditions.

To compare HFM with other brokers, see No-deposit bonuses compared. For how withdrawal clauses are worded across brokers, see How to read bonus withdrawal conditions. To see how the credit looks on your screen, read How bonus credit looks in MT4 and MT5.

Risks to keep in mind

Trading with leverage can lose money quickly, and a bonus does not change that. Bonus credit is best seen as a way to try a broker’s platform with limited risk, not as a source of income. Profits are not promised, and the terms attached to a bonus can make it hard to withdraw anything. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
